Next Volunteer Day Sunday 9th October

Due to the upcoming holiday on the 2nd (the first Sunday of the month) we have rescheduled the next volunteer morning to the 9th.

Please bring a friend and help spread awareness.

Learn to Sew

Yesterday we had our first Learn-to-Sew drawstring bags mini session at our DfG Studio (a.k.a. my spare room!).

Lisa, Lise, Hayley and Amarantra (behind the camera) were awesome students!

We will be having sessions almost every Tuesday so please contact us if you are interested.

The NEXT sessions is Tuesday 4th October and we will be learning to sew SHIELDS. This session is suitable for intermediate sewers.

Great news! Days for Girls International is currently in 2nd place in the Revlon LOVE IS ON challenge! If they win they will receive 1 million dollars, can you image the amazing impact that will have on girls and women around the world.

So far we have raised $175, thank you supporters. PLEASE if there is even 2 people you could share our link with today that might be interested in supporting our Muscat team we would be most grateful. Every $ raised goes directly into making kits.

SHARE our link (https://www.crowdrise.com/days-for-girlsmuscat-oman) and help the girls.
Remember as little as 6 rial ($15) will make one complete kit that will last 3 years and keep a girl in school or give a woman the opportunity to manage her period with dignity.

Together we will make our "drop in the ocean" one that matters!

Would you like to start a team?

The more teams we have, the more kits, the more girls and women we can help.  Even if it just a few or alternatively a large group like a school, all teams will play a very important part in helping achieve the mission of Every Girl. Everywhere. Period.
A downloadable version of the above is available HERE.

The Revlon LOVE IS ON Challenge has begun! Our greatest fund raiser of the year!

September means back to school time, for millions of girls around the globe. Days for Girls is making sure girls can stay in class between now and October 26th, through participating in a once-in-a-year opportunity.

Between Wednesday the 14th September and October 26th, Days for Girls will be showing their support for girls in school everywhere by competing in the "Love is On" Challenge, hosted by Revlon. Let's show the world that love is on for girls around the globe, through giving them the means to go to school, pursue their dreams, and live life freely.

DfG Muscat Oman Chapter will keep 100% of the funds donated! A huge bonus is that the transaction fees are being covered by Revlon and Days for Girls International Headquarters (when donating a person can choose if they wish to cover the transaction fee or not, by choosing 'not' DfG HQ will cover it).

This is a FANTASTIC opportunity to spread the word about Days for Girls to family and friends overseas and ask them for a small donation which will greatly assist us in making more kits. The cost of making each kit for us is 6 OMR (about $15 USD).  The cost of three coffee's really! Remember our goal before next summer is 500 kits!

The cycle of poverty is broken is when girls stay in school.

If you would like to help change a girl's life and DONATE please click HERE . Alternative you can send this address to friends and family who may wish to support us. www.crowdrise.com/days-for-girlsmuscat-oman.

It only takes 6 rial to give a girl 5 days more days in school a month for the next three years (life of a kit). Some girls miss up to 3 months of school over the year and find that they cannot keep up, so they leave. It is heart breaking as an education means the world of difference to them and their families.

So PLEASE take this opportunity to reach out to your loved ones and see if they can support our wonderful cause and help keep a girl in school. And in our case they will be helping the 88 girls in Uganda and also the refugee women from Syria who have literally nothing, not to mention all the future recipients.

Now here is THE BIG NEWS, the DfG Intl. Headquarters get credit for donations to all teams and chapters that register. If they win the competition they will receive the first prize of $1,000,000. Imagine what ONE MILLION DOLLARS could do for women and girls around the world!

Added BONUS is that there are individual prizes YOU can win just by making a donation. Go HERE and click on the link "Best Prizes Ever" to see what you are eligible to win.

Just for a moment, consider if you, your wife, your daughter, your niece, your mother, your auntie or your dearest friend had to sit on cardboard for the duration of their period, or use newspaper, leaves, grass, rocks or even corn husks because they had nothing to help them manage it with dignity. Act Now , pass on this information to friends, colleagues, or family and seek donations to help us, help girls. Every Girl. Everywhere. Period.

An Amazing group of ladies at Muscat Oman DfG volunteer day!

Before our Eid break we had the 4th volunteer morning.

Our focus was on learning to sew the drawstring bags while a group of ladies sat and chatted and giggled while sorting and rolling A LOT of panties! Hayley and Rene got busy on the die cutter pumping out shields like crazy gals (I saw a glaze in Hayley's eyes she was on a shield high!).

Our next volunteer morning is likely to be Sunday 9th October as it seems our usual first Sunday of the month may be a public holiday, so stay tuned.

At the meeting we discussed the opportunity of becoming an AMBASSADOR FOR WOMEN'S HEALTH for free doing the online Days for Girls course which takes a few hours of your time.

ALL distributions must go hand in hand with the educational component. You can take the online version of the course FREE OF CHARGE and receive your AWH certificate. It is a short online program where you will be asked to complete a quiz at the end of each section. I strongly urge you to take the short course because it is great information for yourself (especially if you have a young daughter yourself) and down the track maybe you can assist with distributions or educational talks. And please if you do complete the course drop me a email and let me know. https://sso.teachable.com/secure/57266/users/sign_up…

Volunteer Day and Welcome Back

Hi there everyone, I am sorry I have been quiet over the summer on this blogspot. I had these great ideas of all the things I would get done over the summer break and then ... well let's just say I didn't get them done. But now the kids are back to school and Days for Girls is my top priority once again.

TOMORROW is our next volunteer morning. Remember we have lots of NON SEWING jobs available too. If you do sew and you are able to please bring your machine and an extension cord.

Tomorrow we plan to open, sort and fold underwear. This is the VIDEO that shows you the way we will be fooling them which saves space in our kits. If you have a moment take the time to watch it before coming.

Tomorrow we will also be focusing on DRAWSTRING BAGS. Here is the video from Days for Girls on how to sew the bag the Days for Girls way. If you are interested in sewing from home this is a great way to get started. Please take a moment to watch.

We have received so many wonderful donations and I want to say a HUGE thank you  and to all those who bought back a little something in their luggage after the summer too.

There are lots of exciting things happening this year, so stay tuned for more information.

Many Thanks for sharing the love,
